Job Title: After School Care Staff
Reports To: Head of School
Hours: Part-Time, Monday–Friday, Minimum schedule: 2:00-5:30 PM
Pay: $19+ an hour
Purpose of the Position:
As Afterschool Support Staff at Three Tree Montessori School, your role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of the TTMS After School program and the school's day-to-day functioning. This position involves working in a classroom or or in an outdoor play area with a group of children either ages 3-6 or ages 6-12. This position may additionally involve a variety of tasks, from cleaning and dishwashing to laundry assistance and preparing materials.
When in the classroom, your primary responsibility is the safety and well-being of the children and the group. You'll be readily available to assist children as needed and actively observing the classroom and children.
Duties:
Your duties may encompass but are not limited to:
- Supporting the planning and preparation of engaging, enriching activities for PM programs.
- Providing classroom coverage to maintain the adult-to-child ratio.
- Supervising outdoor playtime.
- Assisting with material-making.
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of the school environment.
- Washing classroom and school dishes.
Things to Do:
In this role, you should:
- Create a safe and secure environment for the children.
- Be punctual and attentive during transitions to help the children settle.
- Contribute to the preparation and clean-up of the environment, including restocking supplies.
- Communicate with the children respectfully at all times.
- Redirect children when necessary and protect their concentration.
- Approach children at their eye level, avoiding calling to them across the room.
- Rotate through the classroom, offering assistance only when needed.
- Accompany children to and from different environments in an orderly manner.
- Ensure all children receive equal attention.
- Use positive language and maintain consistency.
- Respect the child's and the family's right to confidentiality, refraining from discussing children or families with parents or other staff unless it's job-related and in private.
- Foster healthy and effective relationships with community members, practicing direct, honest, and respectful communication.

Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for most of the day.

- Documentation: Copy of high school diploma and/or college transcripts (or proof of current enrollment), proof of negative TB test administered no earlier than one year from the date of hire, current First Aid and CPR (infant/child/adult) and Bloodborne Pathogens card, background check clearance through the Department of Children, Youth & Families, and proof of MMR immunization or exemption (First Aid and CPR can be completed once hired).
