Ages 6—9 & 9—12

The children from 6 to 12 have a capacity for learning unequalled by any other age. The elementary-aged child sees the world differently. Their interest in everything around them and their powerful imaginations are the tools which allow them to grasp any concept or system. They are also able to process the new information and integrate it with their knowledge of the universe in all its aspects, from large ideas to small details. The elementary child becomes an explorer of the world as the focus shifts from the “what” of the younger child to the “how” and “why” of the tangible and intangible.

Language, mathematics, history, geography, biology, and geometry, as well as music, art, and drama are all integral elements of the classroom environment, which offers an unparalleled academic experience while supporting the growth and development of the whole child.

The children tend to work in groups to establish themselves. Collaborative projects are common, each member contributing within her/his own capabilities. In addition, the individual student continues to build skill in reading, writing, and mathematics with the guidance of the Montessori Guide.

At every level, the goals of Montessori education are the same: to aid in the development of an integrated personality who is independent, responsible, and able to make intelligent decisions based on thoughtful examination of choices.
